Brighton, England-based punk band Lambrini Girls are quickly making a name for themselves with their unapologetic style and fuck-you lyrics. The trio – made up of Phoebe Lunny (vocals/guitar), Lilly Macieira (bass), and Catt Jack (drums) – has been performing together since 2021 and is a valuable addition to the queer music scene.
In ‘Help Me I’m Gay,’ Lambrini Girls tackles how queer people are trivialised and reduced to a punchline. The song is performed with passion and urgency but doesn’t miss a good sprinkling of humour. The song’s lyrics are powerful and direct, leaving no room for interpretation. But it’s a message that needs to be heard loud and every day in our current political climate.
“Shag whoever you want, don’t let anyone put you in a box, and if you do ever find yourself in one, then know you can shag your way out of it“.
With its catchy hooks and scream-along chorus, ‘Help Me I’m Gay’ is sure to become an anthem for the queer community. But it’s not just a gay rights song; it’s a punk song, through and through. And that’s what makes Lambrini Girls so unique – they’re unafraid to use their music to demand change, even if it means ruffling a few feathers along the way.
