It’s not often that a video game leaves me completely stunned, but 1000xRESIST somehow managed to do exactly that. Let’s get into my time spent with the beautifully twisted narrative that’ll have you questioning everything, including your own sanity. But before we do, I must warn you: I loved every bit of it.
First Impressions
When you enter the world of 1000xRESIST, you’re instantly slapped with an overwhelming feeling of disorientation. If you need your hand held, you won’t get that here. You are thrown headfirst into a labyrinth of abstract concepts, leaving it up to you to work out what’s real and what’s not. It’s elusive, the characters are mysterious, and it feels like a fever dream you can’t wake up from, but strangely, you don’t want to.
Story and Worldbuilding
I have never experienced a narrative like this before—it’s a sci-fi epic and reflective journey into the human mind. You play as Watcher, one of many clones tasked with killing the Allmother, a godlike entity in this dystopian world. The journey is almost more important than the destination. Each interaction and memory you unlock weaves another string into the complex web of emotions and themes it explores. And it manages to do all of that with a terrific sense of humour.
The game’s protagonist and the other clones are born from the memories of Iris, who inherited the memories of her immigrant parents. These memories, rooted in the trauma of fleeing political persecution, are passed down through generations, echoing the way many of us carry the unresolved histories and struggles of our families.
The Gameplay
This game takes its time, and it’s almost hypnotic in the way it draws you in, letting you soak up the dialogue and every cryptic hint until you’re fully engrossed in its world.
The gameplay is straightforward: you walk, talk to people, and piece together the story, but in its simplicity, it excels. The dialogue is brilliantly written, with each line steeped in purpose. Oh, and the voice acting? It fits the game’s tone to a T. Sure, the lack of lip-syncing might disappoint at first, but you’ll soon forget all about it as the story pulls you deeper into its vice-like grip.
Visuals and Sound
Visually, 1000xRESIST is delicious, with a bold and futuristic art style that adds to the game’s dreamlike quality. The soundtrack is haunting and made the game a full-body experience for me. I’m talking core memory, big-time goosebumps all over.
Final Thoughts
1000xRESIST is a triumph and a masterpiece in every sense of the word. It made me think, feel and shed several tears. I couldn’t ask for much more than that. While it’s tempting to keep gushing, this is one you need to experience for yourself.

TL;DR Review

With its disorienting narrative, surreal landscapes, and a haunting soundtrack, the game is both a triumph and a masterpiece. It explores themes of memory, identity, and the immigrant experience, leaving you emotionally invested and eager to uncover every detail. The gameplay might be simple, but it excels in storytelling. I cannot recommend it enough.
