Triple threat? Try quintuple. GRAMMY®, Tony®, and EMMY® winner and three-time Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo is diving headfirst into the feels with her new solo album I Forgive You, set to release on 6 June via Verve Records/Republic Records.
The album’s already available for pre-save (we’ve got you right here), and the next single, Worst Of Me, is out now.
You might know Cynthia as Elphaba in last year’s Wicked, where she absolutely obliterated us with that performance – and yeah, she snagged an Academy Award nom for Best Actress this year and slayed the Oscars stage with a performance that honestly should’ve come with a warning label.
Now, she’s shifting gears with I Forgive You, a personal, soul-spilling 20-track journey through heartbreak, healing, and what comes after. She co-wrote every track on the album, and it’s broken into four emotional “acts” – from breakups and new beginnings to deep connections and hard-won acceptance. We’re talking haunting interludes, genre-bending sounds (pop, gospel, Britpop, folk, hip hop… basically a buffet of vibes), and full vocal power unlocked.
If you haven’t heard the earlier single Replay yet, get on that. Co-written with pop powerhouse Justin Tranter, it’s already racked up millions of streams and got love from ELLE, Billboard, and Essence. In a surprise to literally no one, it’s a track that aches with honesty and will absolutely be responsible for your next spiral.
Cynthia’s no stranger to storytelling, but this album feels like something else — like a diary cracked open and delivered in a voice that actually makes your heart clench.
I Forgive You lands on 6 June, and it’s shaping up to be one of 2025’s most intimate and ambitious records.
