Hey, friends. You need to hear Scions’ debut single, ‘Fight Song.’ It’s a song that stopped me in my tracks on my first listen, and I’m very excited to share it with you all today. This 9-piece ensemble from Canada brings an eclectic soup of jazz, folk, and even metal in a way that genuinely shouldn’t work—but it does, and it’s delicious.
Scions are based between Halifax, Nova Scotia and Peterborough, and they’ve produced something truly special here. Their album To Cry Out In The Wilderness is coming out November 8th, but Fight Song is the first taste of what they’re about. And trust me, the rest of the album goes just as hard.
The concept behind the album is equally mind-blowing—imagining humanity after an ecological collapse, trying to find its footing again. The song ‘Fight Song’ feels like the anthem for that world, a rallying cry for a last stand, and honestly, a track for right now, when it feels like we’re fighting losing battles every day.
Scions are one to watch. I was an instant fan, and I can’t wait to see what’s next from this lot. Listen to ‘Fight Song’ here and below:
