Get ready to vibe with Lara Jones‘ latest track, ‘Depressed RN,’ a confessional yet groovy exploration of the emotional rollercoaster that is life and social media. Premiering on Mary Anne Hobbs’ BBC Radio 6 show, this single sets the stage for her upcoming EP, ‘Divided,’ which will be released on September 13th via Sound Records.
London-based Jones delivers a powerful message on ‘Depressed RN.’ The track describes the self-doubt that often follows the high of a live performance, amplified by the relentless negativity of news cycles. Lara explains, “This track is about that ebb and flow we face as humans that I think can be heightened for creatives where we lean into these different states. Battling those highs and lows is something I’ve always been super conscious of and have to work hard to find a balance in.”
Composed, produced, and mixed in her small London flat, ‘Divided’ promises to be her most dance-driven EP yet. Featuring pulsating electronics, arpeggiated synths, and glitchy beats, it showcases Lara’s style while incorporating more of her own vocals and punk angst. Supported by the PRS Foundation’s Women Make Music, this EP highlights Lara’s growth as an artist and her commitment to pushing boundaries.
‘Divided’ captures the duality of daily life, both personal and political, navigating the tension between outer confidence and inner turmoil. As a queer musician and parent, Lara’s music resonates with those experiencing the highs and lows of our polarized world. Her sound, a blend of accessible and avant-garde, offers a powerful commentary on contemporary issues while remaining deeply personal.
The EP’s tracklist includes:
1. Binary
2. Lie
3. Divided
4. Depressed RN
5. Sad Sax Interlude
