Indie-multi-instrumentalist Morgan Morris and vocalist Verity Slangen, also known as No Windows, have just released their new single ‘No Clue (Green Song)‘ and announced their highly anticipated debut EP ‘Fishboy‘, set for release on November 25th via tastemaker label Something.
With early demos having already gained notable buzz in their native Canada, alongside an explosive performance at Connect Festival last month, No Windows recently unveiled ‘Shout (Red Song)’, a whirl of fantastical pop that has earned praise from So Young, CLASH, The Line Of Best Fit, and more.
Now, the duo have followed up with ‘No Clue (Green Song)’, a more introspective track exploring growth and change themes. The single combines muted 90s-inspired guitar lines with melancholic yet anthemic vocals, perfectly showcasing No Windows’ knack for manipulating songwriting dynamics while maintaining a cohesive sonic composition throughout the EP.
The EP, which was entirely self-recorded, performed, and produced in Morris’ bedroom, gives three tracks a unique colour title based on the sensations they evoked. Morris says the new single’s theme of discovery “felt like walking through a green, floral forest without knowing what’s ahead.“
With its dreamy sound and unstoppable DIY work ethic, No Windows are sure to be the one to watch as they continue to present its distinct brand of indie-pop. Keep an eye out for ‘Fishboy’ on November 25th. In the meantime, listen to ‘No Clue (Green Song)’ below and on all streaming platforms.
