Swedish prog metal legends Opeth have announced that the release of their much-anticipated 14th studio album, The Last Will & Testament, has been delayed. Originally penned for release earlier this year, the album will now drop on November 22nd, 2024, due to some unforeseen delays in manufacturing. Released via Moderbolaget / Reigning Phoenix Music, this album marks the band’s first since 2019’s In Cauda Venenum, so, yeah, we have been waiting a while for this one.
Mikael Åkerfeldt, Opeth’s frontman, explained the delay, saying: “We strive to deliver the highest quality product possible, and to achieve that, we need a bit more time to ensure the final release meets our standards. We understand this may come as a disappointment, but we sincerely appreciate your patience and continued support. We can’t wait to share this new music with you, and we are confident it will be worth the wait.”
