UK cinema-goers are in for a treat this April as MGM’s iconic classic, Raging Bull, returns to the big screen in a stunning new 4K restoration. Approved by Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese himself, fans of the classic boxing biopic can enjoy the knockout film at cinemas across the UK and Ireland from 14 April.
The restoration will also be available in select international territories around the same time, including France, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand. Exciting launches include a two-week run at BFI Southbank in London and a two-week run at New York’s Film Forum.
Doug Davis, CEO of Park Circus, said: “Raging Bull is truly a big screen experience like no other. We are delighted to be bringing this Scorsese masterpiece back into cinemas from April 2023 and giving audiences around the world the chance to see the stunning new 4K restoration in all its glory.“
Starring Robert De Niro as the complex and troubled boxer Jake La Motta, Raging Bull was nominated for 8 Academy Awards upon its initial release, including Best Picture and Best Director. It went on to win an Oscar for Best Film Editing. Joe Pesci and Cathy Moriarty co-star, and the classic is regarded as one of the greatest films ever made.
This new master was created in 4K resolution from the 35mm original camera negative, and its acclaimed original 2.0 surround soundtrack was remastered using 35mm magnetic tracks. So if you’re looking for a film that packs a punch, don’t miss out. Catch Raging Bull at a cinema near you in April!
