Liverpool legends The Zutons have taken a heartfelt leap into music history with their cover of Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back to Black’. The reimagining of this iconic track its the kind of cover that just feels right.
For The Zutons, this release is personal. Their connection to Amy Winehouse is the stuff of music lore: her unforgettable rendition of their hit ‘Valerie’, produced by Mark Ronson, transformed the track into a global phenomenon. It’s been hailed as one of the greatest covers ever, so this feels like a full-circle moment.
The idea for Back to Black first came about during a Live Lounge tribute. The Zutons performed Valerie alongside Winehouse’s iconic track, and their take was met with overwhelming praise. “We’ve always been proud of how Amy made Valerie her own, and to have the opportunity to honour her in this way feels really special,” the band shared. “This version of Back to Black has taken on a life of its own, and we’re excited to share it with everyone.”
