Pine: A Story of Loss, an indie game from Fellow Traveller and Made Up Games, is launching soon on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android, with a PC version also on the way later this year.
At its core, Pine invites players into the poignant journey of a woodworker coming to terms with the loss of his wife. You’re exploring a tranquil forest glade, surrounded by the beauty of nature, but beneath that serene surface lies a struggle with grief. As players, you’ll help the woodworker cling to precious memories while managing the day-to-day challenges of an empty home.
What makes this game stand out? Well, it was inspired by the personal experiences of illustrator Tom Booth, whose background includes working with big names like Dreamworks and Nickelodeon. His artwork depicting the woodworker struck a chord with many, leading to an overwhelming outpouring of support online. Tom got together with Najati Imam, co-founder of Made Up Games, to transform this story into an interactive experience, complete with gorgeous visuals and a soundtrack that sets the tone perfectly.
