tinyBuild has announced SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed, and yeah, things are about to get unreasonably fast.
It’s been nearly a decade since SpeedRunners first burst onto the scene like a caffeine-fuelled wombat in lycra, delivering chaotic 2D footraces and all the friendship-ruining power-ups you’ll ever need.
Now, tinyBuild and developer Fair Play Labs (of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl fame) have just yeeted SpeedRunners 2 into our lives. We’re vibrating with excitement. And maybe too much coffee.
Unveiled during the Triple-I Initiative showcase (aka the indie hype machine we love to see thriving), SpeedRunners 2 is coming to PC later in 2025, with console versions racing in behind on PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch in 2026. That gives us just enough time to prepare for being absolutely destroyed by a 12-year-old with godlike grappling hook skills.

More players, more madness, more yelling at your mates
This sequel’s not just more of the same, either. It’s bigger, smoother, and more bananas. We’re talking up to eight players (yes, eight!), competing locally or online in beautifully retrofuture-themed obstacle courses full of wall jumps, swinging hooks, missile launchers, and the purest distillation of competitive chaos you’ll ever find outside of a Mario Party minigame.
The visuals are getting a slick HD glow-up, the netcode’s had a spa day, and the gameplay is as high-stakes as ever. Get knocked off-screen? You’re out. No respawns, no second chances. Just the sweet shame of being eliminated mid-race and having to spectate your enemies’ glorious parkour moves.
The return of the King
The original SpeedRunners was the party game of the mid-2010s for people who liked their platforming with a side of salt. So it’s fitting that tinyBuild is bringing in the OG developers from DoubleDutch to consult on the sequel. This thing’s got legacy, and they’re treating it with the love it deserves.
CEO Alex Nichiporchik even called SpeedRunners the game that kicked off tinyBuild’s entire publishing journey.
TL;DR: It’s SpeedRunners 2. It’s real. Wishlist it on Steam, Xbox and PlayStation now.
