When Mimimi Games closed its doors, I wasn’t sure I’d find another tactical stealth game that hit all the same notes of joy, challenge, and outright chaos. But Sumerian Six has stepped up beautifully, capturing that sweet spot between strategic finesse and supernatural mayhem. It’s a tactical stealth game with heavy Commandos vibes and a nice dash of the occult.
Set in 1944, twisted by mystic energy known as Geiststoff. It sees you leading the Enigma Squad, a band of quirky, talented misfit scientists with supernatural skills. The squad is trying to stop a Nazi madman from unleashing a superweapon with his cultish allies. It’s good fun messing about with each character’s powers, whether transforming into a Werebear, floating around as a ghost, or giving baddies the ol’ zappy-zap with lightning. Every encounter feels like creatively solving a puzzle but with enough freedom to push you into a creative approach.
The storytelling is simplistic, but it’s enough to keep you interested. The Enigma Squad has its own little family drama; half the team are literally related, but unfortunately, only a few characters get real attention. The levels are where this game shines: large, sprawling maps filled with routes, XP crates, and environmental traps that let you approach each mission in whatever style suits you best.
That said, Sumerian Six isn’t without its faults. I ran into some performance issues like audio glitches and bugs that had me save-scumming a little too often. Still, the core mechanics are rock-solid, and there’s real satisfaction in dismantling a Nazi patrol, one sneaky kill at a time.
For anyone who misses Mimimi’s games or loves a good stealth-strategy mix, Sumerian Six is absolutely worthy of your attention.
