The Taste of Mango, an achingly personal exploration of family, trauma, and healing, lands in UK and Irish cinemas today (29th November 2024).
Directed by Chloe Abrahams, this documentary has already captured hearts and accolades, winning the Best Documentary Audience Award at the BFI London Film Festival 2023 and the Best Debut Director Award at the BIFAs 2023.
The Taste of Mango is an intimate journey through three generations of women: Abrahams herself, her mother Rozana, and her grandmother Jean. Through tender and unflinching storytelling, Abrahams confronts the silences that have defined her family’s past, weaving a narrative of love, resilience, and reconciliation.
Chloe Abrahams has created a conversation starter. As she puts it, “I made this film as a way of connecting three generations in my own family, and I hope it helps to open up healing conversations across the U.K. and Ireland.“
