Hold onto your hearts, folks—Nottingham’s own Divorce is back with a brand-new single, ‘My Room.’ This track is the second offering from the quartet this year, following their March release ‘Gears.’ Produced by the brilliant Catherine Marks, known for her work with boygenius, Foals, and Wolf Alice, ‘My Room’ is an emotional rollercoaster wrapped in a quiet, escalating drama.
Divorce isn’t just dropping singles—they’re also about to hit the road for a full UK tour this October. Starting with a sold-out four-night residency at Nottingham’s Bodega, the tour will climax in a grand finale at London’s Islington Assembly Hall. If you’ve been paying attention, you’d know that Divorce has been turning heads left and right, earning a spot on the BBC 6 Music playlist and supporting heavyweights like Bombay Bicycle Club, The Vaccines, and Everything Everything.
Their recent Heady Metal EP was a hit, exploring themes of insecurity and the journey towards self-acceptance. It sold out its limited-edition Record Store Day vinyl in a flash, so if you have yet to listen, you’re missing out.
Frontwoman Tiger Cohen-Towell describes ‘My Room’ as an ode to unconditional love. She reveals, “These lyrics are some of the most emotionally vulnerable I’ve written to date. It speaks to the deep desire to show affection towards someone you know extremely well. Familiarity can be scary, and being truly seen can make you throw up walls.” The track even features a chorus sung by children, adding a layer of sweet naïveté that perfectly encapsulates the song’s bittersweet vibe.
