GRAMMY Award-winning superstar Nelly Furtado is back with her highly anticipated new album, 7, set to release on September 20th 2024.
The album marks Furtado’s return to the music scene after a hiatus dedicated to motherhood and self-discovery. “I started going out again and I kept hearing my music being played and remixed by DJs, and at the same time, my eldest daughter was showing me how the online community – including a whole new audience of Gen Z fans – were discovering and embracing my music, 20 years later,” says Furtado. “I heard the calling!”
Furtado’s journey back into the studio resulted in a treasure trove of 400 songs featuring collaborations with artists, songwriters, musicians, and producers from around the globe. “I found my voice again,” she comments. “This collection of songs is so personal. It reflects my journey through heartbreak and finding my confidence as an artist again, into the pure joy and celebration you feel when you’re nurturing your passion and are part of a community.”
Today, Furtado has released the new single ‘Corazón‘ featuring Bomba Estéreo’s Liliana Saumet and Lido Pimienta. The track is a vibrant blend of vocal hooks, empowering lyrics in English and Spanish, and eclectic instrumentation, solidifying its place in Furtado’s innovative pop canon. Co-produced by Furtado and T-Minus, ‘Corazón’ is a celebratory global pop song that came to life during a creative retreat in Colombia with fellow artists who are also mothers.
The single follows Furtado’s pop anthem ‘Love Bites‘ featuring Tove Lo & SG Lewis, which has already amassed over 13 million streams and received worldwide critical praise.
Furtado’s resurgence in the music world has also connected her with a new generation of Gen Z fans, with her hits amassing over 1.5 billion streams in 2023 alone. Her timeless track ‘Say It Right’ recently entered the YouTube Billion Views Club, and her Tiny Desk Concert featuring a mix of her iconic hits and new music has been a social media sensation.
