Dilettante, the Northern outsider-pop project, just dropped a new single, ‘Easy Does It,’ and it’s an absolute bop. Available now via Launchpad+ / EMI North, this track is sure to get stuck in your head.
Premiering on Under The Radar, ‘Easy Does It’ shows off Francesca Pidgeon’s talent for catchy, quirky melodies. With her elastic vocals, a rubbery bass hook, and buzzing synths, it’s pure art-pop goodness.
Francesca, the Leeds-born multi-instrumentalist behind Dilettante, found inspiration in a rain-soaked moment. “I got drenched by a bus on the way to the studio and thought, ‘Wow, I took dry days for granted.’ That’s how ‘Easy Does It’ was born,” she says. The song also tackles relationships and appreciating what you have.

Francesca is a one-woman band, playing guitar, clarinet, sax, piano, bass, and trumpet. Her loop-heavy live shows are a must-see. She’s joined by Aaron Collins-Wood (bass), Jack Mee (drums), Katie Pham (guitar/percussion/vocals), and Caitlin Laing-McEvoy (bari sax/synth/vocals).
Get ready for ‘Life of the Party,’ dropping on January 24th, 2024. This self-produced album is Francesca’s most personal yet, created in a converted freight container. It tackles everything from societal pressures to turning thirty. Expect some synth-heavy tracks and gentler piano tunes.
