We’ve got some big news from the Aussie music scene. Jessica Ducrou, the co-founder of the legendary Splendour in the Grass festival and co-CEO of Secret Sounds Group, is stepping down after eight incredible years at the helm. If you’re as obsessed with music festivals as we are, this is huge!
Secret Sounds, part of the global behemoth Live Nation, is one of Australia’s top music groups. They’re the geniuses behind Splendour in the Grass, Harvest Rock, Falls Festival, and heaps more. They also manage Secret Sounds Touring, Village Sounds booking agency, and even own venues like The Triffid in Brisbane. Basically, they’re a big deal.
Jessica’s departure marks the end of an era. Reflecting on her journey, she said, “So many memorable moments over the last almost decade with Secret Sounds, what a wild ride it’s been. I’m well due for an overseas summer holiday, so it’s a good time to take a break before I embark on my next chapter.” Honestly, sounds like she’s got the right idea. An overseas holiday? Yes, please!
Jessica gave a massive shoutout to her long-time business partner, Paul Piticco, and the entire Secret Sounds team, especially Elise Huntley and the festival crew. “The Secret Sounds team, notably Elise Huntley and the festivals gang, are the absolute best. I will miss working with the awesome individuals who inspired me every single day.” Feels, right?
But don’t worry, she’s not disappearing completely. Jessica will still be rocking her roles as Chair of SoundsNSW and Deputy Chair of the Australian Festival Association (AFA). She’s taking a well-deserved break to spend time with her kids, travel, and, fingers crossed, finally finish reading a book. Relatable.
Jessica’s exit is a big deal, and we can’t wait to see what she does next. In the meantime, we’re sending all our best vibes to the Secret Sounds crew. The Aussie music festival scene won’t be the same without her at the helm, but we’re excited for what’s next.
Catch you at the next festival, legends!
TL;DR: Jessica Ducrou, co-founder of Splendour in the Grass and co-CEO of Secret Sounds, is stepping down after eight epic years. She’s off for some much-needed R&R but will still be active in the festival world. Big changes ahead for Aussie music festivals!
