Fresh off a North American tour with Mumford & Sons, a big ol’ set at Glastonbury, and apparently no time for sleep, Good Neighbours have announced their debut album Blue Sky Mentality — due out 26 September via Polydor — and dropped a shimmering, bittersweet new single called ‘Suburbs’.
If you grew up in a small town dreaming of something bigger — or just used to fake sick to avoid P.E. — this track is going to hit very close to home.
Premiered last night as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record, Suburbs is a glossy, heart-tugging anthem that wraps Good Neighbours’ signature sun-soaked sound in a layer of “I need to leave this town before I turn into a car park” melancholy.
“Suburbs is a message back to our younger selves,” say Scott and Oli. “Coming from small towns outside of London, it was hard to dream big without getting shot down. This track is our anthem for breaking free from that mindset and chasing something bigger.“
And honestly? That’s the energy we’re carrying into the rest of 2025.
The album is coming — and it’s personal
Blue Sky Mentality was written across a year of long-haul flights, hotel rooms, and staring out of moving vehicles like sad movie protagonists. The result? A 14-track album full of introspective, joyful indie-pop.
Oh, and yes, it includes the breakout hit ‘Home’, along with previous singles’ Ripple’ and ‘Starry Eyed’ — plus ‘found u/me’ (or ‘Somebody’ if you’re grabbing the vinyl, because of course we’re buying the vinyl).
From Sebright Arms to stadiums (probably)
To celebrate the album news, the lads returned to where it all started — playing a sweat-drenched, jam-packed set at Sebright Arms in London, the same tiny venue they first played back in late 2023. It’s giving full-circle goosebumps. And they’re not stopping there — they’re hitting up independent record stores around the UK this September for an intimate album tour that’s going to sell out faster than you can say “can I pay cash?”
Record store tour includes stops in:
- Bristol – Rough Trade
- Birmingham – HMV Vault
- Kingston – Banquet / Pryzm
- Liverpool – Jacaranda, Baltic
- Leeds – Crash Records
- Edinburgh – Assai, Caves
- Nottingham – Rough Trade, The Saltbox
Tickets go on sale Friday, 11 July at 10am via participating stores. Set alarms. Text your mates. Bribe your boss for time off if you have to.
