In a world where album charts are less than eclectic, it’s refreshing to see a British hard rock group like KRIS BARRAS BAND crashing the party at #5 with their latest album, Halo Effect. But amidst their success, they still remember the venues that helped pave the way.
Remember that sold-out show at Dover’s very own The Booking Hall last year? Yeah, the one where fans were left drenched in sweat and grinning from ear to ear? Well, that iconic venue, nestled in a Grade II listed former railway station, is now facing its most formidable opponent yet: closure.
It’s a story we’ve sadly heard all too often in recent years – independent music venues fighting tooth and nail to stay afloat amidst rising costs and development threats. But this time, there’s a glimmer of hope. Venue founder Stuart Cameron isn’t ready to throw in the towel just yet. Teaming up with the Music Venue Trust, they’re taking matters into their own hands with a crowdfunding campaign to secure the venue’s future.
Enter KRIS BARRAS BAND, led by the formidable Kris Barras himself. From the ring to the stage, this former MMA fighter knows a thing or two about facing challenges head-on. So, when he heard about The Booking Hall’s plight, he didn’t hesitate to lend a helping hand. He’s rallying fellow musicians to join the cause.
KRIS BARRAS BAND returns to The Booking Hall for an epic one-night-only gig on Friday, June 28th. With tickets already flying, it’s bound to be a packed house – and every penny raised will go towards keeping The Booking Hall’s doors open for years to come.
Kris says, “Grass roots music venues need our support more than ever. I was really sad to hear the news of The Booking Hall in Dover being under threat of closure. We had a blast doing a sweaty, sell-out show there last year on the ‘My Parade’ Tour. SOOOOOOO….we’ve decided to play a special one-off show there and help shine a light on the whole situation. I don’t want to see this place go under and I hope you don’t either, so come along and support an awesome grass-roots music venue!”
So, let’s show The Booking Hall some love. After all, it’s not every day you get to save a piece of musical history – one gig at a time.
Tickets are available now at www.thebookinghall.com, and if you’re feeling extra generous, consider chipping into the crowdfunding campaign. Let’s ensure The Booking Hall isn’t just a memory – it’s a thriving, vibrant hub for music lovers everywhere.
