Remember that feeling of discovering something weird and wonderful tucked away in a box you weren’t supposed to touch? Well, get ready to relive that with Miniatures, a collection of beautifully crafted interactive short stories coming to Nintendo Switch, Steam, and iOS on November 14th.
From the BAFTA-nominated minds behind Tick Tock: A Tale for Two, Other Tales Interactive is serving up a bittersweet dose of nostalgia, magic, and melancholy that’ll have you pondering what it means to be a kid—warts and all.
Launching from the indie studio’s headquarters in Copenhagen, Miniatures plays partially like a graphic novel, an experimental film, and a point-and-click puzzle adventure. Oh, and it’s short and sweet at just 45 minutes long.
It’s all about the touch, too. If you’re playing on Switch, Steam Deck, or iOS, touch controls are available for puzzles. You’ll be poking, prodding, and twisting objects as if they were right in front of you.
Tanja Tankred, the game’s writer, comments: “Miniatures was born out of a love for picture books, animated short films, and experimental storytelling. Through lots of exploration we ended up with this slightly strange, eerie, and at the same time nostalgic anthology that we are very proud to release into the world.”
If you’ve ever been curious about the magic of small, strange objects and the stories they hold, Miniatures might just be the perfect way to revisit the odd beauty of childhood—whether you grew up in the 80s, 90s, or beyond.
How to Play
Miniatures is out on November 14th and is available on Nintendo Switch, Steam (including PC, Steam Deck, and Mac), and iOS.
