It’s your turn to hit the virus-ridden trenches, and this time, bureaucracy might actually kill you. Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, the upcoming apocalyptic checkpoint sim from Brigada Games, has hit over 1 million wishlists on Steam and officially joined the Devolver Digital family.
If the zombie plague doesn’t get you, the paperwork just might.
Welcome to Hell. Please Have Your ID Ready.
First revealed in May 2025, Quarantine Zone: The Last Check has already infected 1.8 million players via its free demo, spreading like an admin-shaped rash across PC gamers everywhere. It’s Papers, Please meets The Last of Us, but with more spreadsheets and questionable ethics.
You play a lone government agent manning a checkpoint at the tail end of the world. Survivors show up in waves. Some coughing, some crying, some clearly hiding a bite. And it’s your job to decide who gets in, who gets shot, and who gets left outside to be chewed on. Oh, and you’re also managing food rations, fuel levels, shelter logistics, and your increasingly fragile sanity.
No big deal.
The choices you make? Permanent. The consequences? Immediate. The vibes? Terminally tense.

Devolver’s Down With the Sickness
In a move that makes perfect, blood-slick sense, Devolver Digital has swooped in to publish Quarantine Zone, declaring it an “outbreak” they couldn’t resist. Considering Devolver’s love for games with sharp teeth and sharp commentary (see: Cult of the Lamb, Hotline Miami), this collab is basically destiny.
The full game is set to launch in November 2025, but the demo is out now on Steam. And based on the wishlist numbers, you’re not the only one curious about how good it feels to play god during the zombie apocalypse.
TL;DR:
- Quarantine Zone: The Last Check is an apocalyptic checkpoint sim with moral decay and actual decay
- Over 1 million wishlists on Steam and climbing
- Devolver Digital is officially publishing, so you know it’s got bite
- Demo already played by 1.8 million would-be quarantine officers
- Full release set for November 2025
- Imagine Papers, Please, but the people bleed and scream
Demo’s out now. Get checked… or get chomped.
Stay unruly.
