‘Motorcycle’ is a stark departure from Remi’s usual upbeat style. This emotionally raw ballad was crafted with the help of Kenny Beats, Leon Michels, and the Dap-Kings. The vocals and instrumentation were recorded in one take with minimal edits, allowing Remi’s soulful voice and reflective lyrics to take centre stage. The song floats along a jazzy guitar melody, creating a minimalist yet powerful backdrop.
Directed by Sweetiepie, the music video for ‘Motorcycle’ is as quirky as it is introspective. It features Remi role-playing a traditional housewife, complete with vintage attire. The video humorously depicts her efforts to maintain a perfect home for a cardboard cutout husband, resulting in some hilarious and poignant moments, like vacuuming the lawn and spilling coffee everywhere.
Remi describes the song as a reflection of her internal struggle between wanting a settled life filled with love and babies and the relentless need for independence and freedom. “The song is essentially a fantasy about me living in a reality where both sides of me can exist simultaneously… Secret lives of the wives of Harley Davidson type,” says Remi.
