- 4th studio album
- 9 Oct release day
- 2 singles so far
- 3 Grammy nominations so far
Troye Sivan’s fourth album, She’s the Best, arrives on Friday 9 October, and its first two singles are already out. It’s his first since 2023’s Something to Give Each Other, which won Album of the Year at the 2024 ARIA Awards. Troye has called the new one “a painting that captures my life in all of its moods and colours”, and “chaotic, layered, organic, troubled and alive”.
It’s been a huge few years. The Something to Give Each Other era gave us “Rush”, “One of Your Girls” and “Got Me Started”, debuted in the Top 5 of the Billboard 200 and at No. 1 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Albums chart, and wrapped up with the SWEAT Tour alongside Charli xcx in 2024. Across his career, Troye has racked up more than 15.5 billion streams and eight ARIA Awards.
The Singles So Far
The title track arrived in August. Troye has described it as a celebration of the women who shaped his life, especially trans women, along with drag queens and feminine-presenting people. Its video, directed by Gordon von Steiner, who also made the videos for “One of Your Girls”, “Got Me Started” and “Rush”, two of which went on to earn Grammy nominations, is inspired by 1980s queer New York and stars Nicole Kidman, his Boy Erased co-star, alongside drag legend Sasha Colby.
Side Quest Who Is Sasha Colby?
Sasha Colby won season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2023. She’s a trans woman from Hawaii, and she was a drag star long before the show, including winning Miss Continental in 2012.
Second single “Party” followed in September. It’s built around Madonna’s “Music”, opens with Sir Ian McKellen’s voice, and is Troye’s first official release with his brother, Tyde Levi, who co-produced it. Troye has said nightlife is often “the first time that you find yourself in a space where you’re not the minority”. Its medieval-castle video is very much an after-dark watch.
The Perth Bit
Troye moved to Perth with his family as a toddler and grew up here, so a new album from him still feels a little like a hometown event. Universal also ran early listening sessions in Sydney and Melbourne for fans who pre-ordered, though that competition has now closed.
Where to Get It
If you want a physical copy, Troye’s official Australian store has She’s the Best up for pre-order on vinyl, a store-exclusive transparent “burnt” vinyl, CD and cassette, plus a 7-inch single, and several of those come with a signed art card. CDs start at A$24.99, and the signed vinyl is A$74.99. It’ll be streaming everywhere from 9 October, and both singles are out now.
Press play, and maybe save the “Party” video for after dark.
