Breaking News: Miriam Margolyes is a legend

The wonderfully candid Miriam Margolyes couldn’t contain her true feelings about new chancellor Jeremy Hunt during a recent interview on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme.

During a segment discussing the death of Harry Potter actor Robbie Coltrane, the 81-year-old actress and outspoken interviewee “accidentally” swore live on air while explaining her interaction with Hunt.

Margolyes had wished him luck in his new role but admitted she’d rather have said, “fuck you, bastard!”.

Presenters Justin Webb and Martha Kearney quickly apologised for the slip-up, with Webb even comparing it to BT Sport apologising for swearing during a rugby match.

Twitter users were quick to share clips of the interview, with former BBC journalist Jon Sopel expressing his amusement at the incident.

We were thinking it, but you said it. Stay unruly, Miriam. We commend you.
