The Raindance Film Festival is about to get a dose of raw heroism and ethical debate with the world premiere of the feature documentary ‘Dog War‘. Open Eye Pictures, in association with 10 Lives Content, proudly announces the film’s debut on 23rd June, followed by a Q&A session with director Andrew Abrahams.
Nominated for the Spirit of Raindance Award and a favourite for “Off-Beat Docs,” ‘Dog War’ is a gripping, action-packed documentary that follows a team of war-hardened, dog-loving veterans on a mission to dismantle the dog meat trade in South Korea. Through covert operations and daring rescues, these heroes fight to save as many dogs as possible from this brutal industry.
A Complex, Thought-Provoking Documentary
Andrew Abrahams, known for his poignant works like ‘The Grove‘ and ‘Under Our Skin,’ directs this eye-opening film. Abrahams said, “I can’t think of a better place to premiere ‘Dog War’ than Raindance Film Festival, with its fiercely independent ethos of film that takes risks and offers unique ways of framing and viewing our world.”
The film features interviews with activists, politicians, dog meat farmers, and vendors, providing a comprehensive view of the issue. It delves into the clash of perspectives on ethics, cultural “norms”, generational evolution, and the battle between animal rights and human livelihood.
