The Aussie multi-talent gets heartbroken in neon on their retro-pop comeback.
Break out the rhinestones and prepare your feelings: G Flip is back, and this time, they’ve brought a lasso made of synths.
The Aussie drummer-turned pop powerhouse just dropped their glitter new single ‘Disco Cowgirl‘, out now via AWAL Recordings. It’s the kind of heartbreak anthem that makes you want to cry on a light-up dancefloor — all reverb-soaked drums, shimmering 80s nostalgia, and a chorus that practically screams, “sing along even though your heart is absolutely wrecked.”
Premiered on triple j and recorded in their Los Angeles studio, ‘Disco Cowgirl‘ marks the beginning of what G is calling “a new era”. The track was co-written and co-produced with longtime collaborator Aidan Hogg, but this is very much G Flip’s show: they played most of the instruments themselves (of course).
“It’s the first stop on a larger ride that I can’t wait to share with the world,” G said in a statement, sounding exactly like someone who has even more chaos, catharsis and cowboy boots queued up for us. Yeehaw, and pass the tissues.
If you’re already emotionally spiralling, why not make it official? You can now pre-order a limited edition 7″ vinyl of ‘Disco Cowgirl’ — perfect for spinning dramatically in your room while whispering “how dare they” into the void.
