You know that feeling when you’re spiralling into the abyss, but somehow, in the middle of it all, you get a sudden, chaotic burst of clarity? That’s the energy Lights is bringing with her new track ‘Alive Again.‘ Dropped today like a neon-lit lifeline, it’s a pulsing, synth-heavy anthem about hitting rock bottom, making peace with your demons, and maybe even inviting them out for drinks.
In Lights’ own words: “We all have demons, we might as well learn to live with them.” Or, in the case of the ‘Alive Again’ music video—throw a little house party with them and pack it full of horror movie references. Because if you’re gonna suffer, you might as well do it in style.
‘Alive Again‘ is the second track off Lights’ upcoming album A6, dropping May 2 via Virgin Music. She describes the track as a “last hope anthem”—a rallying cry for anyone who’s ever looked around at their life in complete disarray and thought, “Yeah, alright, let’s keep going.” It follows the previously released teaser track ‘Damage’ and sets the stage for an album that promises to be a lovely mix of both cathartic and unhinged.
Expect A6 to be packed with hyper-melodic, fast-paced new wave sounds, a healthy dose of nostalgia, and Lights doing what she does best—blurring genre lines and making emotional chaos sound like a party. The tracklist alone hints at the vibes: ‘You’re Killing Me,’ ‘Clingy,’ ‘Piranha’—frankly, it reads like a neurodivergent group chat at 2 AM, and we’re here for it.
